I undertook my studies at the University of Limpopo and obtained a M.Sc. degree in Botany (focus on Conservation Management) in 2007. Before this, I obtained my B. Hons degree in Physical Geography (focus on Environmental Management) at the University of Pretoria, as well as my B.Sc. in Environmental Science degree at the University of Pretoria. I have been in this field of work for over 15 years.

Environmental Impact Assessments
BA & Full EIA processes
Listed Activities under GNR 324, 325, 327, in terms of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 as amended requires either a Basic Assessment or a Scoping and Full EIA process.
Mining Rights and Mining Permits
Mining related applications in terms of the Mineral Petroleum Resources Development Act No. 28 of 2002 as amended requires a process in terms of NEMA as part of the One Environmental Management System.


Waste License Applications
Activities listed under the National Environmental Management :Waste Act No. 59 of 2008 requires a Basic Assessment or Scoping and full EIA process. This includes activities such as storage of waste, processing of waste and disposal of significant quantities of waste.
NEMA Section 24G Rectification Application Process
A Section 24G rectification application will be needed when a development was done without an Environmental Authorisation that triggering a listed activity in terms of NEMA.


Fuel Retail License EMPs
Any activity for retail sales and storage of fuel with a capacity less than the triggering activities in the NEMA regulations requires an EMP to be submitted to the Department of Minerals and Energy. Or even after an approved Environmental Authorisation is issued a Fuel Retail License EMP will be needed.
Environmental Control Officer
An Environmental Control Officer, also known as an Environmental Compliance Officer (ECO), is a professional responsible for ensuring that local, provincial, and national environmental regulations are followed by individuals, businesses, and government agencies. An EC is appointed to manage all the environmental aspects on site during the construction phase of new projects. Additionally, they may conduct research and provide education and outreach to promote environmental preservation and sustainability.


Avifaunal Specialist
Following the Species Environmental Assessment Guideline (produced by DFFE & SANBI), provides the criteria for the specialist assessment and minimum report content requirements for impacts on terrestrial animal species for activities requiring environmental authorisation.
